Lilias Ide - Northeast Kingdom, VT
I was born and raised in an area called the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. After college in New York state, where I studied studio arts, I lived in Wyoming, California and Oregon where I biked, snowboarded and traveled pretty extensively - working in bike and board shops and pottery studios to make a living. Downhill and freeride are my favorite types of riding - but for some reason, anything on two wheels seems to rock my world. For 4 years, I lived without a car in Portland, OR. - it was amazing to have an excuse to ride my bike everywhere I went!
3 years ago, I moved back to my hometown area, where I divide my time between riding every chance I get as well as running a mtn. bike instruction guiding and trail construction business with my brother, while also functioning as the Program Director at Kingdom Trails (a not for profit bike and Nordic trail network) on top of working in my home ceramic studio and teaching clay classes at a community studio, and raising my 2.5 yr old son - which is suuuper fun. Yeah, I'm busy and a bit schizophrenic, but it is important and rewarding work that stimulates our local economy and supports active and healthy lifestyles, which are both things that this area of Vermont needs.
I also know that through it all, the most important thing is that I get out on my bike, board or skis at every opportunity so that I can keep that inspiration (and adrenaline high) to carry in to my work, relationships, and motherhood.
